Something wrong, someone out of line, or a question we haven't answered? Here's how to get help.
contact@drivegiro.com
In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number). GIRO doesn't contact emergency services and isn't watched around the clock.
Get help
Email contact@drivegiro.com. A real person on the GIRO team reads every message. We're a small team, so give us a few days. To help us help you, include:
- your @handle (and send it from the email on your account, if you can);
- your phone (iPhone or Android) and the app version, which you'll find on your phone's app info screen;
- what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot helps a lot.
Never send us your password or your messages PIN. We will never ask for them.
Report a person, a post or a message
- A person: open their profile, tap the ••• menu, then Report.
- A post: open the post and choose Report post.
- Messages: press and hold a message, choose Report, then pick the messages to include. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, so the ones you pick are the only ones we'll ever see. In a chat's details, Report reports the account without attaching any messages.
- Routes, Spots and other content have a Report option on their own pages too.
Reports go to the GIRO team, not to the person you reported. We review them and act under our Terms. If someone is in danger, call 911 first.
Block someone
Open their profile, tap the ••• menu, then Block. You disappear from each other across the map, search, follows and messages. To unblock, go to Settings › Blocked, open them and tap Unblock.
Control who sees your location
- Settings › Location, or the status pill on the map: choose Crews & Friends (your friends and crews see you) or Ghost (nobody sees you, and you see nobody).
- To keep someone from seeing you near home or work, open their profile, tap the ••• menu and choose My settings for @them.
- Convoy sharing with GIRO closed can be switched off in Settings › Location.
- You can delete any of your saved drives, or all of them, at any time.
The Privacy Policy explains exactly who sees what, and how long it's kept.
Can't get into your account?
- Forgot your password: tap "Forgot password" on the sign-in screen, in the app or at drivegiro.com/account. We email you a code.
- Forgot your messages PIN: reset it with your password and a code we email you.
- Lost a phone: from another signed-in device, go to Settings › Devices and tap Remove next to it, then change your password.
- Lost your email and every phone: write to contact@drivegiro.com. We'll check it's you by hand. If your password, your email and every signed-in phone are all lost, old messages can't be recovered, because they're encrypted with keys only you hold.
Take a break, or delete your account
- In the app: Settings › Account › Danger zone. Deactivate (under "Take a break") hides your account until you turn it back on. Delete account asks for your password and an emailed code.
- On the web: sign in at drivegiro.com/account and choose Deactivate account or Delete account.
- Deleting hides your account straight away. After 30 days it's gone for good. Sign in before then and tap Reactivate to keep it.
- A few things are kept after deletion (shop orders, your waitlist entry, and reports). The Privacy Policy lists them.
- To be taken off the waitlist, email us.
Get a copy of your data
Email contact@drivegiro.com from the address on your account and ask for a copy, or for a correction. We answer within 30 days.
Shop orders
Item arrived damaged, defective or wrong? Email us within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo, and we'll replace it or refund you. Parcel lost on the way? Email us and we'll sort it out. Items are made to order, so there are no returns for a change of mind or the wrong size. The shop rules are in the Terms.
Drive safe
Set your route and your music before you pull out. Don't handle your phone while driving. Use it hands-free only where the law allows, or hand it to a passenger. Obey speed limits and traffic laws, and never race on public roads. Maps, directions and hazard reports can be wrong, so the road and the signs always win.
